Besides spiritual devotion of citizens which is deep and true, a mature democracy needs strict separation between private religion and public duty.This great ceremony of Ram Mandir Bhoomi Pujan on August 5 not only brings the whole country together, celebrating it in the true spirit, but also unintentionally creates a very powerful distraction which is hard to believe.

On the occasion of today’s anniversary, the public has to raise its demands higher. Only one honest, objective audit by the CAG can prove that one really respects an ancient place – not political speeches. A religion, no matter how great, must never be the veil to hide a corrupt operation.
