HEADLINE: Dreams Revived: UP Government Grants 3-Year Age Relaxation for 32,000+ Police Jobs
Lucknow : In a massive relief for government job aspirants across the Heartland, the Uttar Pradesh government has announced a one-time 3-year age relaxation for all categories in the ongoing police recruitment drive. The decision comes as a lifeline for thousands of candidates who had crossed the eligibility limit due to the long hiatus in recruitment caused by the COVID-19 pandemic and administrative delays.
Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath directed the Home Department to implement this relaxation immediately, acknowledging the gap in recruitment years. The current drive aims to fill 32,679 posts, including vacancies for Civil Police, Provincial Armed Constabulary (PAC), and Jail Warders.
The New Eligibility:
With this relaxation, the upper age limit for General category male candidates rises from 22 to 25 years, and for female candidates from 25 to 28 years. Reserved categories will get this 3-year benefit in addition to their existing quotas.
The application window is currently open and will close on January 30, 2026. Experts believe this move will drastically increase the number of applicants, making it one of the most competitive exams in the state’s history. For the youth of the Doab, donning the Khaki uniform is often seen as the ultimate symbol of social dignity and stability.
