Lucknow/Muzaffarnagar: In a glaring instance of administrative failure and security breach, the Uttar Pradesh Police has booked a woman who served as a government teacher in the state for over three decades, despite allegedly being a Pakistani national.
The Revelation
The case surfaced after a complaint was lodged questioning the teacher’s citizenship status. A subsequent probe by the Local Intelligence Unit (LIU) and the police revealed that the woman had procured the job using forged documents, including fake educational certificates and residency proofs, effectively masking her nationality.
30 Years Under the Radar
What makes the case astounding is the duration of the fraud. The accused managed to bypass recruitment verification, receive monthly salaries, and likely avail other government benefits for over 30 years without raising red flags within the Basic Education Department.
Political Context
This discovery provides fresh ammunition to the Yogi Adityanath government, which has been pushing for stricter verification of citizens. Just last week, the CM stated in the Assembly that political patronage had helped illegal immigrants get “Aadhaar Cards and Voter IDs.” This incident validates concerns that such infiltration is not limited to the unorganized sector but has penetrated government jobs.
Action Taken
An FIR has been registered under relevant sections of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita (BNS) for forgery and cheating. The department has also initiated the process to recover the salary paid to her over the decades.
Chaupal’s Take:
This is not just a case of job fraud; it is a breakdown of the vetting process. It demands a retrospective audit of long-serving employees in border districts to ensure such lapses are not widespread.
