Noida, Uttar Pradesh | Protest by employees of a private company near Sector 62 and Phase-2 demanding pay raise resulted in area getting disrupted on Monday morning.
Local sources say crowds of disgruntled employees have been massing outside their workplace with chants about a necessity of salary hike and better working environment. The strike that changed its face and moves from one-day-activity to continuous one, reached its climax on Monday, as the number of demonstrators swelled considerably.
In their statement, an eyewitness told that the incident led to traffic jams in the adjacent areas, heavily impacting the movement of vehicles on the major roads of Noida and the surrounding regions of Delhi-NCR. The crowd was occupying certain sections of the road and the vehicles were held up for quite a while.
Police went on the spot to contain things and persuade the staff to leave. Cops were talking with the employees on strike to normalize the situation. However, it was a little while before the officials managed to have some influence as the environment was still very tense.
Initial reports say employees want their salaries to be reviewed and overtime work to be properly compensated. More information about communication between the management and the workforce is still coming. Officials have not officially announced any arrests or use of force so far. The status is under surveillance and we will get more news as talks go on.
